Birka och Hovgarden, Unesco World Heritage Site Jul 23, 2006
From Stockholm, near the trainstation, you can take the boat to Birka och Hovgarden. It is a really nice boattrip, but I can't remember how long it took (its two years ago :))

It is a very interesting place to visit, especially when you hear the stories from the guides. But there isn't a lot to see since most things have been gone for a long time. They were rebuilding some buildings in the old fashioned way when I was there, a small open air useum.

The guides told about where the old city used to be and about how life was back in those years. You can still see the old walls and were the gate used to be. You can als see the burial sites.

I think it is very interesting to visit, but you shouldn't expect to see a lot.
