Bin Chau hot springs Sep 12, 2009
Bin Chau hot springs resort is a hot spring resort (!) near Vung tau. To get there from Ho Chi Minh, you need to get the hydrofoil or the incredibly tedious bus to Vung Tau then hire a moped or get a taxi. The trip is well worth it.
The resort is quite expensive by the standards of things to do in Vietnam, but very cheap by UK standards. The price of the room includes use of te main spa facilities, including the hot spring pool, the foot bath, and some of the other pools. More expensive rooms also include eggs to cook in the boiling spring.
The rooms are very clean, in low rise buildings set in gardens. The resort says it is an eco resort and I see no reason to doubt it - it isn't like they have to heat the water for the pools! There are dresing gowns in teh wardrobes, hot showers, and nice toiletries, which is real luxury compared to many of the places we stayed this trip, although obviously that's refelcted in teh price.
The hot springs are lovely. One of the pools was almost too hot to swim in, but incredibly relaxing. SItting int eh pool late in teh evening watching geckos hunt flies in the lights was magical.
Massages are paid for separately, but they aren't very expensive and they are very nice. There are places to eat, but we were there in the off season and so it could be tricky to find anything other than the main restaurant that was open. There is a net cafe, wich is not included in your bill.
