Big Sky is located in the southwest corner of Montana, surrounded by the Gallatin Range of the Northern Rocky Mountains. Average annual snowfall is around 400 inches, and the low humidity levels make for powdery snow, great for ski conditions.

We slept in this morning and we decided to venture back into Yellowstone for one more day. We wanted to see a bear. We had been told at the entrance by the park ranger that they had been a few hanging around Old Faithful, so away we went.  Along the way we saw Bison and there young, another Coyote, and Elk. No Bear....ahhh. We at lunch at the Geyser Grill at the Old Faithful Snowlodge.  The food was delicious. This time of the year it is so dry we both have been drinking alot...

Reed Point, MT to Red Cliffs Natl Forest Campground, Yellowstone, Grand Teton Natl Parks

On August 3, I packed up and drove west on I 90 through Bozeman, MT and then south on Rt 191 to the National Forest Campground at Red Cliffs. This was just a few miles south of the resort town of Big Sky. This campground is quite rustic and rough with no water at the sites, just electric. The canyon was quite narrow with a beautiful river running on the edge of the campground. I was on the east side with the red cliffs to my back and as a result the sun did not get to me until mid morning. It...

Jackson, Wyoming/ Big Sky, Montana 1/2006: Big Sky Travel Photos

jackson hole is very cool. more of a two planker mountain, i hold no grudge. and strangely enough if you want great sushi, you need not leave Teton village. Masa Sushi has a great atmosphere. stop and have some sake with Kay. big sky is much more boarder friendly, the long traverse at the bottom of the mountain is a little too long but since that is my biggest complaint about the trip i can highly recommend both places.
