Big Island is another one of the many beautiful islands of Hawaii. This island continues to grow as the famous Kilauea volcano continues to erupt and ooze lava, increasing the size of the island.

There are many fun and spectacular things to do here! From enjoying the black sand beaches, playing in the snow on its high mountaintops.

Even the turtles hang loose on the beaches but it is prohibited by law for you to touch them! Feel free to take pictures but keep your distance!

This was a trip taken back in May 2007. It was GREAT walking around on the lava and watching how life started to grow on the desolate lava rocks. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the Volcano erupt. It was too far of a hike. This is also the time when I realized that I'm no longer an "island girl" because I got sunburned! I never used to get sunburned but I guess that's what happens after living in the city for so long!
