Live and let dive. Nov 09, 2011
I met a huge group of people at a hostel in Bangkok, we all decided to head to Koh Tao together, and ended up here after a friend told us it was great.

We planned to stay maximum 3 nights here and ended up staying 10!! The dorms are 6 beds, nothing particularly special about them, beds a bit creaky and the bathrooms average but we loved the atmosphere soooo much and the dive masters there are a reason to stay on its own!! The only bad thing I would say is the blond english girl and the small thai girl on reception are perhaps the most disagreeable people I've ever met, really unhelpful and generally unpleasant. But like I said, all the dive masters and other staff are super friendly and make it worthwhile. Big Blue as a dive centre is also amazing, they really know their stuff! The boat always left on time and all equipment is top quality and new, with lots of optional extras such as underwater cameras to rent.

The food is cheap and tasty, the pizzas especially are great if you feel like a break from the Thai cuisine! Get a strawberry daiquiri and chill at the bar while watching the fire spinners (or whatever they're called...)The wifi sometimes doesn't work but there are so many places just 2 mins walk (the corner cafe and choppers has good wifi, choppers is faster....) and make sure you check out Fizz, Lotus and Fishbowl for some partying.

Fun dives cost about 800 baht (free accomodation when you dive!) and I did my advanced open water course there and it was 8,500. A lot cheaper than anywhere else I've ever been!

Rooms were not great but you barely spend time in them, very cheap when you do a dive :). Great instructors!

Nice atmosphere Dec 20, 2009
You book a diving course and get either a discount on the room price or you get a dorm bet for free during the course. The rooms I stayed in were good, although some rooms have a funny smell. However the mozzie-net seemed to be brand new. The atmosphere at this resort is very sociable, the staff is very friendly and the diving courses are big fun!
