Big Bend National Park Vacation Guide
Big Bend, is one of 390 parks in the US national park system. Located in Southwest Texas, all roads in the park end at the Rio Grande the boundary between the US and Mexico.
Big Bend has three distinct eco-systems within it the river, the desert, and the mountains. The river cuts across the dry desert leaving in it's trail majestic canyons. The Chisos mountain range peak at over 7800 ft in elevation. There are many hiking trails that can be followed throughtout the park, each one leading to amazing views of each of the eco-systems and each one offering something completly different for you to see.
Activities in Big Bend include hiking, river running, and bird watching over 450 species of birds live in the park! This park has some of the nicest scenery and diversity of wildlife any national park has to offer. The lodge in the Chisos Basin and the stores around the three main campsites are open year round.

Making the most of my time off, I drove to Big Bend National Park and Marfa Texas to see the natural beauty that is, West Texas. Amazingly, I drove 500 miles or 800 kilometers due west and was still in the state of Texas.
