You need a Northwest Forest pass to park.

Keep in mind that the ice caves are dangerous. Only those trying to week out the gene pool are stupid enough to walk out over the ice (and I've seen some stupid people even take toddlers out on it). Stay on the trail, people! People have been killed going inside the caves and they collapse...or getting hit by a chunk of ice that breaks away and falls down off the mountain.

That said, the trail is easy and beautiful. What used to a golf course for the wealthy in the early 20th century is now a wetland, thanks to active beavers (which the former resort owners would try to thwart by blasting them with dynamite...the beavers won!).
