Bewley's Oriental Café Feb 07, 2013
I have a particular fondness for Bewleys an old Quaker Establishment circa 1840's having visited here on many memorable occasions since I was a small child for high tea etc and yes, things have changed and I am glad to say for the better.

Initially I was dubious about the proposed refurbishment doubting that it could be any improvement on the existing one and worrying that the development would destroy the character of the tea shop/restaurant, this worry was totally unfounded.

Yes, am delighted to say that it has been and is a resounding success, an eatery that has charm in buckets and that embraces all that is good about Dublin Restaurants.

Those of an ethical conscience are well catered for, Bewleys being the proud purveyor's of Fair trade Coffee/Tea since time memorial. The first Carbon/Neutral Café, they make a lot of claims and live up their reputation, judge for yourself.

The interior has been well preserved, comfortable and chiqúe feel, with it's plush sofa's and quaint elegance, whilst retaining that old world charm and yes, its a great place for the bohemian crowd, locals and tourists etc to hang out. Book lovers and those who require a quiet corner to indulge in a spot of reading or just art lovers/seekers in pursuit of new cultural experiences, all will not be disappointed, having many choices to opt from.

A nice theatrical lunch is on offer on the 2nd floor, this is served from 12.50pm - 2pm and roughly costs €4 - €8 euro's.

The food is unpretentious and well presented, Dublin and Continental fare alike e.g A hearty Breakfast, well cooked with good sized portions, there is something to suit every taste and requirement and the single or family orientated visitor is truly well catered for.

Well, don't take my word for it, visit and be prepared to be enthralled.
