Grafton Street, Dublin, Ireland
Bewleys Cafe Dublin Reviews
Historic cafe set in a beautiful building, occasional events Dec 18, 2010
This place is set in the very heart of the Grafton Street shopping areas, and it's certainly a far better (and not all that much more expensive) option that the numerous chain coffee shops on offer. Bewley's is well known in Dublin for a number of reasons: firstly, the window displays, exterior and interior are all stunning, and instantly recognizable. Secondly, it's a one off, and they genuinely try to make their products stand out, running seasonal promotions, fair trade products and lots of interesting cookery ideas.
Thirdly, this is known as the location where Bob Geldof and the Boomtown Rats wrote a lot of the songs from their first album, and gets a 'rock and roll trail' signpost on the wall outside for that. They still run their own events in the evenings, including cinema upstairs, live music, some small film festivals and even theatre. It's often free in, too. Well worth a look if you want somewhere to get out of the rain, or somewhere with a nice local flavor in the heart of the city.
