Touts in Kuta Bali Jan 16, 2013
They are some of the most aggressive touts on the face of the earth. i understand that while everyone needs to make a living, it can become a bit overwhelming. While it won't keep them totally at bay, I wore ear buds as if I was listening to my iPod and just put the end in my purse. If it looked really bad up the street, I started to talk as if I were on my phone. It eased some of it. I also found that shopping near the end of the day, when they were tired was a plus also. Remember to always be polite, they are just working.

What to do when you are hassled to buy Mar 04, 2011
Don't pay attention to them if you are not wanting to buy. Instead of saying "no" maybe try "tidak". That means "no" in Indonesian and say it abruptly. As soon as they hear that, they think you are a regular visitor and leave you alone.

If you must come here either for the beach or the surf, just stay some place else. I can't tell you how many people including myself had wallets and cell phones and bags stolen. Little kids working in teams to distract you and take your wallet. (To late you lil scab its already gone.) It was very hard to find much to enjoy in here. The rest of Bali is just so amazing to even waste a day here working feverishly trying not to get all your stuff stolen.

Beware of touts in Kuta Beach, they will force you to buy their stuff. If you dont want to buy they will hassle you till you buy their stuff. Some even will scream and shout at you. It could get ugly. They usualy come in group and sells things that is 10 times higher than usual.

These touts usualy are not local Balinese people, they're from Java and Madura.

If its your first time in Bali its better to hire a guide so that you'll have a more pleasant trip.

yes this is true, best thing is not give them attention. a simple no thanks and look away and go about your biz. where ever there is mass tourism there are touts that come with territory. if you give them eye contact they won't leave so easily lol.
