We wanted to go skiing for the first time ever, so we went to our Travel Agent to book a trip. She suggested Keystone Co. for our first ski trip. It was absolutely beautiful, however, I ended up in the hospital with altitude sickness. We trusted out Travel Agent, and didn't do a lot of research about Keystone before we went, needless to say, I will always research from now on! Keystone Co. is one of the highest ski resorts in the US, so might not necessarily be the best place for a beginner! The locals say that if you arrive in Denver Co, spend the night there to adjust to the altitude, then you should be fine. Also, drink lots of water, and no alcohol! I ended up unconscious in the hospital because my brain was swelling from altitude sickness, and had to spend the rest of my trip on oxygen in our cottage.... so just beware of the altitude!

I can sure relate to your experience as I suffered the same thing in the Peruvian Andes at 14,500 feet altitude. I ended up in hospital for almost a week. Altitude sickness is certainly not to be taken lightly. Sad to say, I am not making any plans to visit Nepal.
