Beware of sms/call scams on Malaysian mobiles/sim cards Aug 15, 2008
If you happen to get a mobile with a sim card in Malaysia to
have a temporary Malaysian number, you might get a few sms/calls asking for money by telling you that you’ve won the lottery, lucky draw or that your phone number was picked randomly to win a large amount of money. I’ve been in this situation but thankfully, I did not believe in it. A girl asked me for a large amount of money once. She said I was lucky that my phone number was chosen in a global electronic phone system. The number of the girl who called me was from Philippines. She said I should not tell anyone about it & that I will get the full amount of prize money once I send her pre-payment. She spoke very good English in a Filipina accent. Guess how she wanted me to send her the money! By Western Union :o)))) Sadly, many people have believed in this scam. Watch out.
