Convenience and service! Jun 03, 2012
This 4* hotel is conveniently located on Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII near Largo Porta Nuova within easy walking distance of the train station; the number 1 bus to/from Citta Alta also stops outside the hotel.

During our visit in May 2011, we had sat on the roof terrace and 'abused' the hotel's free WiFi to upload the announcement video and initial pages for EurMeet; the roof terrace is very pleasant and we were undisturbed during our time there.

In May 2011, the hotel receptionist made arrangements for us to view a triple room which we subsequently booked for EurMeet. Our room was at the front of the hotel, directly overlooking Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII and was very pleasant; the only negative comment I have would be the minimal provision of wardrobe space given that we were three ladies sharing the room - this could be easily rectified by providing a tallboy-style robe into the room, which had adequate space to accommodate such a piece of furniture, but this is only a minor point.

The room is provided with a dressing table and work desk, whilst the en-suite has shower, wash hand basin, WC, bidet and is supplied with toiletries, towels and bathrobes.

Room rates include a buffet breakfast which is provided with both continental and hot buffet items from which to select.

Prices quoted below are for advance purchase, non-cancellable rates for a triple room.

Unique Qualities: Pleasant 'roof' terrace located on the first floor within the quadrangle of the hotel which is provided with comfortable outdoor 'lounge' furniture and large parasols to protect from the sunshine during hot weather.

The buffet-style breakfast offers an excellent selection of items to choose from including fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries, breads, jams and preserves, as well as hot food items. Coffee and hot water is provided, as are tea bags. Breakfast is cleared promptly at 10:00 daily.

Address: 12 Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII, Bergamo

Directions: Walk straight down Via Papa Giovanni XXIII from the train station. The hotel is on the left just before the old city gates (Largo Porta Nuova).

Very Nice Hotel. Great AC! Jun 04, 2011
We escaped to Bergamo from Milan due to AC problems.

But this ended up to be a great adventure!

This was the 2nd time a Best Western had come to our rescue in a pinch. We called literally as we were packing to move out of the hotel in Milan to TRY and get a reservation. We got lucky.

They made room somehow for the 4 of us at the last minute.

I would say this hotel is easily 4 stars without checking?

*Very clean. Everything sparkles and shines.

The room had everything you might need in a room, TV, decent closet space, room to walk, nice bathroom, etc..

*We ordered up room service the following morning to get coffee and pancakes/waffles for the kids. It arrived on time, and tasted great.

We had come to Italy for my daughter's birthday.

* So the staff at Best Western recommended a great restuarant for us to take her. She had a cute pink fru fru drink and a great dessert that night.

Since we knew nothing about Bergamo, they gave us great info on where to go the next day. We ate at a restuarant I reviewed already that was awesome. Gave us info to a special exhibit and the main museum which was ALL worth the trip.

I would recommend Bergamo, Italy to anyone! And I owe it to the staff at Best Western because we would have been lost otherwise. I had NOT researched this city before leaving because obviously this was not planned.

**This is partly what makes a good hotel great. Making sure their guests have a great time in their city!!! (not just the hotel)

*This hotel is located in the middle of the city, on a street with expensive stores. So nice shopping. We bought a fancy Tissot watch!

* Taxi's easily pull up out front and take you where you want to go.

The Best Western Premier Cappello d'Oro...

was sweet!

you can't compare to american Best Western hotels! it's a 4 star hotel! ok it's not vegas, but nevertheless it was a fine hotel.

We paid around 130 euro a night, for 3 people, which was around 40 euro for each person.

What you got for 40 euro:

+ a clean bedroom!

+ a big bedroom

+ a pretty nice bathroom

+ a big buffet as breakfast

+ the staff spoke italian, french and english

+ the location was perfect, everything was in walking distance

You can't find better for that price I guess.

The only down was:

- they only have 1 elevator. so if the hotel gets very crowded and busy, i guess you will have to wait to catch the elevator.

I can't say anything bad about the hotel at all!

The cable car was located 10 walking minutes away.
