Best western key ambassador resort inn Key West Reviews
Nice place but some distance from Key West city center Apr 27, 2013
I had been talking with my TB friend Jamal about visiting the Keys for some times and we finally decided quite late that we would head there. The fact that we made out decision so late resulted in that all the rooms inside the center of Key West either were occupied or way too expensive. We didn't want to pay too much because we rather would spend the money on having a great night in the city that using it on hotels.
After searching for some time I ended up booking Best Western Key Ambassador Resort that had gotten fair reviews and had an acceptable room price of 250 US$ + tax for a Friday to Saturday. I had no idea about its location compared to the city but when we arrived there we found out that it was closer to the airport than the city center and a taxi getting you from the hotel was close to 18 US$, which was not too bad considering that we actually had loads of fun on these trips.
We arrived around 6 pm, and went straight fro the reception. I was in great mood and made loads of fun with the two women behind the counter and they were ready for it. It was a great way to start a stay. We were given a room just above the reception facing the pools and pool bar, that for some insane reason closed at 7 pm.
The hotel was bright yellow with white window frames and it suited the area pretty well. You just had to cross the road in front of the hotel and then you stepped down the narrow beach and the blue water. It was quite windy so we could not feel the heat, but this was almost everything that I had wished for during the long winter in Denmark and Sweden that had lasted almost 6 months. We took our stuff and went to our hotel room, and we were quite pleased with what we had gotten. The room was pretty large with two queen size beds and loads of floor space. There were full floor to ceiling windows in half the room. These windows faced the pool area, and we had a terrace of 8-10 square meters in front of that. I found it quite funny that there was a mosquito net blocking direct access. I don't know why but it might be mosquitoes or birds getting inside; I have absolutely no idea. The bathroom was quite okay but it was quite clear that this place was not built yesterday.
We just dropped our stuff in the room and headed straight to the pool bar to taste some rum and smell the fresh air. We managed to order two drinks before the bar closed, at 7 pm!
