Lovely Hotel Aug 01, 2007
I stayed in this hotel during the summer of 2007. Another last minute bargain!! The hotel is classed as a 4* and is well worth this.
From the moment we entered the hotel reception we could tell we would enjoy our stay here. The reception area was immaculate and the staff wonderful.
Our room was on the third floor overlooking the pool area. The carpets in the hotel were so thick that your feet actually sank into them!!! The room was lovely and clean, plenty of wardrobe space, large dressing table with numerous drawers and a decent hairdryer, television, mini bar, fridge, table and two chairs. Bathroom was a little on the small size but adequate, lots of toiletries and towels were changed on a daily basis. However, the balcony was on the tiny size, two chairs and no space for anything else, though ok for reading a book early in the morning, impossible at night due to the lack of a light!! The only other downside was the noisy air conditioning units/compressors on the roof tops of other accommodation in the vacinity.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis only so can only comment on the breakfasts. This was of the continental variety but lots of choice. Plenty of fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurts, cheeses, hams, etc. Although, unfortunately, some English visitors did find this unacceptable. (They could have gone down the road to a local cafe were they served traditional full English if they so wished). The food was lovely and we got to try some tradtional greek dishes too.
The pool area was nice, but a little on the small side, sunbeds were scarce if arriving late in the day. And I was disappointed with the general cleanliness of the pool area, am not really a fan of having to avoid cigarette stubbs/ash when walking around in bare feet (hence why I have only given cleanliness an average score and why we went to the beach most days). There was also a pool/bar/snack area which was ok,drinks reasonable, but there is a small newsagents on the street corner which offers more value for money!
The hotel is in a wonderful location situated approximately 600 metres from the Madraki Marina(turning left out of the hotel) lovely to stroll to on an evening and lots of wonderful restaurants situated within the harbour area to choose from. Rhodes Old town is also in this area and well worth a look around. In the other direction (turning right)head towards the main shopping area, walk down the main street and the shingle beach is approximately 10 mins away.
I would highly recommend staying at this hotel if looking for somewhere central in Rhodes Town, and would definitly stay here again.
