Best Western Pioneer Inn

The Best Western Pioneer Inn, set alongside the harbor and the banyan tree, is a true gem! It's location in Lahaina ("downtown Maui") can't be beat! And the airline and AAA discounts are incredible!

The hotel is historic, clean, comfortable and practical. The rooms and bathrooms are small but clean and updated. And the courtyard has the cutest gazebo and pool. I would even consider having a wedding reception in this courtyard!

There's not a true beach at this hotel, but it's within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants in Lahaina. To get to Ka'anapali Beach, just drive a few minutes and look out for public parking. If that doesn't work out, it's well worth it to pay to park at the Sheraton because then you are right next to Black Rock, perhaps one of the best snorkeling spots in West Maui.

Every day at 3 p.m., giant sea turtle swim near Black Rock. It's an incredible sight. Just don't touch them; they can catch our germs through their shells.
