N E V E R book a room at this hotel.
In 2006, we first got an hotel close to the shore... the years before, we booked hotels at the marina area, because they were cheaper, and we also tried the youth hostel in santa monica, on 2nd street. EVEN THE YOUTH HOSTEL was much much better than the ocean view hotel. it already started with the price. for 6 days we had to pay 1800$, for a double room, for 3 guys. this included a very lame and crappy breakfast, 3 days car parking in the hotel's lot. - the hotel was pretty dirty...the floor on our level was gross. you couldn't walk barefeet outside your room, because you got black feets in a second... really dirty floors... - the room was a mess...old unconfortable beds... a tv from the 80s, and you couldn't fully open the windows... - the window view = 4 backyard walls, with noisy cars driving out of the parking lot. - breakfast = muffins, colored cereals, orange juice, coffee and THAT'S IT. nothing more nothing less. powder orange juice... disgusting coffee... and there were 2 TABLES for the whole hotel AT THE LOBBY! there's no dining room... you eat in the lobby in front of the 2 elevators. no bread, no beagles, no jam, no honey...nothing...just muffins and cereals... - unprofessional staff at the front desk, which were actually friendly though. - 1 internet-computer which didn't work. - room service wasn't that bad, but you got 2 towels for 3 people, so everytime you had to ask for a 3rd one. - problem with the key-cards. once every 3 days you had to renew the cards. - no the best hotel for young people. if you wanna meet new people on your trip, you won't meet them at the hotel. - valet parking??? you share the parking lot with people who visit the bar on the corner. which means that the parking lot is always totally overcrowded, especially in the evening... the valets really do a nice and hard job, parking cars non-stop...they were pretty friendly. but i wouldn't give them the keys of my new car. because they park all the cars too close together, because of the lack of space. NOT THEIR FAULT. it's the shitty hotel. EXPENSIVE parking prices. i'd chose the public parking lot on 2nd street. + location was great. very close to the peer, 1 block away from 3rd street ( shopping street). if you want a cheap hotel... go down 4 blocks south. close to the shore... little hotels but cheap ones, and for sure better conditions. if you wanna meet new friends..go to the youth hostel it's like 25$ a night... with 6-8 people in your room. but it's very user friendly, nice breakfast, lots of young and mid-aged people... if you want something for your money, go to the georgian, or the shangrila hotel on the same street.
