Old and worn, but Cheap! in the Center of Athens Oct 17, 2008
For a traveler on a budget, the best western Ilisia is an acceptable choice. The rooms are clean enough, and the staff tries hard to please, but the old rooms with worn out carpet and furniture and the awkward bathrooms definitely help you realize that you get what you pay for.
On the plus side, the hotel is fairly centrally located in Athens. I was able to walk 5k to the Acropolis and also to the Lycabettus Hill overlooking all of downtown Athens. Also, there was a free breakfast which was definitely edible, if not first class. Plug in internet is available in the rooms for a fee (currently 5 eur).
