Great location, but very small rooms and no a/c Jun 21, 2006
Located on Allersberger Strasse, this hotel is practically across the street from the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) in Nuremberg. Just walk through the train station and you will find yourself in the Altstadt (old city), the walled part of the city that is mostly pedestrian and full of shops, restaurants, cathedrals, a castle and other great architecture. So with location in mind, the hotel is convenient if you don't plan spending much time there. Otherwise, the rooms are tiny as are the low, narrow and uncomfortable single beds. There is barely enough room to turn around in the bathroom. It was summer when I was there, and the room had no a/c or windows. The only option was to open the large swinging glass door that went on to the balcony. The door is so large and room is so small that you cannot open it all the way before it hits the bed. While this will help cool off the room a little (and I do mean a little because you can't generate a cross flow), it will make it difficult to sleep due to the street and train noise. A tram line also runs right by the hotel. The noises are effectively drowned out by closing the door, so it's a choice of heat or noise. It's probably fine when it's not hot outside. I did find the breakfast to be rather good.
