Best Western Braid Hills Hotel Edinburgh

I stayed here for a wedding, so bear in mind that I'm gonna have the warm and fuzzies for the place. In fact, I would do a blog entry, but I would lay good money you are more interested in the hotel than how gorgeous my friend looked...

By a significant margin, the best thing about the hotel is the views from teh car park and some of the rooms. The Braid Hills are a short way out of the city centre, above Morningside in teh West of the city, and you have a fantastic view of the side of the Castle, the back of the Royal Observatory, and the whole city spread out to the Forth River. So this n its self makes it a lovely romantic place to go. The service was more attentive at reception than I am used to. Being a twenty-first century girl, at first the slowness really annoyed me. Until I realised that actually, they were slow serving me because they were doing such a good job with the people in front. A bell boy took my bags to my room, without even hanging around meaningfully for a tip, and the staff were lovely.

The food at the wedding was fantastic, and they were delighted to go gluten free. You might want to check that sort of thing in advance, though. The breakfast was lovely and the check in was a friendly sort of 11am thing.

The three of us stayed in two rooms, and th ewhole bill came to about £50 each - I really don't think that's bad at all.

The rooms were spotless, high ceilinged and had chandeliers. They were a little stingy with the towels, but really.
