Berret's for beer and seafood in Merchants Square adjacent to historic Colonial Williamsburg Aug 01, 2008
Berret's Seafood Restaurant and Taphouse Grill was the best part of our trip to Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia.
FOOD AND DRINKS: The weekly microbrew specials and seasonal brews were very good--even the Brits at our table enjoyed them since they did not taste like typical American watered down beer! The She Crab Soup was delicious and even had a shot of Sherry poured into it during service at the table! The clam chowder was not as good, but the raw oysters made up for the chowder dissappointment. There were several seafood dishes to choose from, the most highly rated in our group was the burger with a crabcake on the side or two crabcakes--the house specialty! I had a cheese, artichoke and lump crabmeat dish with toast points and a salad which tasted very good. A nice selection of wines are also offered. There is indoor and outdoor seating available and the traffic is not too busy in this area at the southwest part of Merchants Square, about 2 blocks from the entrance to historic Colonial Williamsburg. There is a parking lot by the entrance, even though we had parked in the garage 2 blocks away. For good eats and beer during your walk through historic Colonial Williamsburg, don't pass by Berret's without sampling the brews! |
