Bergamo Overview

Bergamo, Italy is about 40 KM Northeast of Milan. The Orio al Serio airport which serves the area is also a main airport for those going to Milan.

The bottom of the Alps begin north of town.

Bergamo has a humid climate which is characteristic of Northern Italy. Unlike most of Italy, Bergamo has a wetter summer than winter.

Bergamo has a long history in music. For over 800 years they are well documented for music teaching and singing.

The town has 2 centers: the upper part which is the hilltop medieval town, surrounded by defensive walls, and the lower city.
After WWII, the lower part of the city went through an economic boom.

The upper part of the city is an extremely expensive place to live in, with properties being sold for a minimun of 2,000,000 Euro.

Bergamo has a picture museum that is 3 floors called The Pinacoteca dell'Accademia Carrara. It is quite extensive with paintings, roman coins, etc...
