Good choice to stay in Kruger National Park Apr 01, 2011
Berg en Dal is a camp situated inside Kruger National Park, protected by electric fence. From one side of the camp there is a scenic view over the river / small lake. There's a walking path besides electric fence, where you can see animals passing through. We've seen 2 rinos 20 meters from us.

We were acomodated in separate bungalow with 3 beds. It was like a small house. It had it's own kitchen, bathroom with shower, aircondition and terrace with grill. We were suprised to see that nearly everybody around was preparing food using outside grill. It seams to be some South African custom to sit on evenings beside grill for long hours. So did we. All needed things (charcoal, meat etc) you could buy in camps shop.

You can also use camp restaurant which is open from 7:00 til 21:00.

You can join a camp organized safaris in open 4x4 car, on sunrise, day, evening and night drive, for around 25 $ per person. Especialy i can recomend sunrise and night drives, since they are done before and after gates to park and camps are closed and when you cannot drive around in your own car. Also animals are mostly active during sunrise, sunset and at night. During the day the usualy hide in bushes from sun.

Berg en Dal camp has some special feel to it which doesnt have biger Skukuza camp. You feel more conected to nature, you can hear sounds from the park at night. It was realy great.

Thank you for this review! I always wonder why is it that game drives are often done early at sunrise, or late at sunset....now I know why!
