Ben's Red Swings Reviews

Sep 28, 2007
In 2002 a four-year old boy named Ben passed away from leukemia. Looking for a way to preserve his memory, his parents focused on the run-down playground at the west entrance of the Salisbury Zoo. They decided to headline a campaign to build a new play area for the children. Two years later Ben’s Red Swings opened to the joy of many youngsters.
The wooden playground is a delightful mix of red-topped towers, bridges, slides, monkey bars, and rings. A fireman’s pole, a short rock-climbing wall, a sandbox, and even a dead end add to the main structure. Swings and a sandbox dominated by a large crab stand a few feet away while slightly farther out waits a spray station for cleaning off after a rambunctious play session.
Ben’s Red Swings caters to two age groups, ages 2-4 and then ages 5-12. For example, a set of high monkey bars and then a set only four feet off the ground.
If you have children who love playing outside, I highly recommend taking a half hour and relaxing in this amazing playground. Picnic tables nearby allow for a quick outdoor meal as well.
