Benny's Reviews

Jul 27, 2007
We needed to stop for lunch on our way from Boston to Bar Harbor. We just happened upon Benny’s and we are sure glad we did. Benny’s is located on the waterfront just off of 295 on 1A. It is a very casual local sea side café. This was only our second sea food meal of the many we had on this trip. At the time we did not truly realize just how good everything was. However, Benny’s was used as comparison for each meal there after. As bang-for-the-buck goes, Benny’s is number one on our list for the whole trip.

We had a couple specialties of Benny’s, their Crab Cake Sandwich and Onion Rings along with a Lobster Roll. The crab cake sandwich was very good. If I was doing it again I would just get the crab cake and hold on the bun. The tartar sauce was a very good and a bit unique, a must try. The onion rings were thin sliced and fried in a modified beer batter. Yet another, very good item. The final thing we tried was the crab roll. This was one of 6 different crab rolls we tried on the trip and it was the best. The roll had iceberg lettuce and a traditional bun. The mayo was very creamy and it just all work well together. It did not quite have the presentation of some of the other rolls but it sure tasted better.

We tried to fit in another visit to Benny’s on our way home. We just could not time it right. It made the whole drive from Boston worth it. We will be back again.
