Bengaluru Vacation Guide
For centuries the city of Bengaluru has stood at the heart of the Karnataka region of India, and today is one of the greatest cities in the nation. In some ways it resembles San Diego in the sense that the city is a headquarters for telecommunications and defense organizations, as well as aerospace and software developers, but the resemblance ends there. This is an Indian city in every sense of the word, from the spicy food to the massive architecture of the Vidhana Soudha to the people and beyond. Previously known as Bangalore until a rebranding changed the name in 2006, Bengaluru is often referred to as the Silicon Valley of India, and it is easily one of the most modern and rapidly expanding cities in the country.
Traditionally Bengaluru is not known for being a tourist city but let’s face it: often times the best places to travel aren’t the ones that are packed with hordes of camera-toting, guidebook-reading newbies. And while the city itself is extremely crowded, it’s full of local color and traditions that give you the opportunity to lose yourself in a foreign environment. From the rickshaws to the Indian food to the spices and the architecture, it's easy to see why the city is such a booming metropolis.
Despite not being a major tourist destination, Bengaluru boasts some of the most amazing buildings in the country, from the Vidhana Soudha to the Bangalore Palace. Visitors can also explore the Tipu Sultan’s Palace, housing the Tipu Sultan during the summer months and dating back to the late 18th century. You can see such splendor as the ISKON Hare Krishna Temple or the Shiva Temple, or head out into one of the many parks that have given the city the additional name of “The Garden City”. Either way, Bengaluru boasts a wide variety of activities for every type of traveler, year-round.

Nothing is more precious to the hard core Bangalorian than the 2 words "Gandhi Bazaar". It's been around forever, and despite India's "modernisation" continues to retain its old world feel and charm. The area is very well shaded, lots of trees and very cool. Also, it's a walker's paradise - fruit a…

I took these pictures on the day before my departure. Although Bengaluru is my home and I go often on holiday, this particular trip was a business trip so I didn't get much time to look around. I only had weekends.
