Benedict park

Benedict Park, named for Brighton businessman and city father, Ray Benedict, is a 21 acre multi-use park located is the eastern part of Brighton.

It is a very popular place on summer weekends. The park features four covered areas, for picnic gatherings. Each has picnic tables and grills. Three of the four can be reserved through the city, and the fourth is first come, first serve.

In addition to the shelters for gatherings, the park has numerous other amentiites. For the walker or bike enthusiast, Carmichael Loop Trail can take you around the parameter of the park, and links up with three other trails leading out of the park. Off of each of the two parking lots, near the trailheads there is a fountain that caters to both the people in the park, and their four legged friends. The restrooms are located nearest the Southern Street entrance.

At the Skeel St entrance is a Skate Park, that features a half-pipe. New, in 2007 is a 9 “hole” disc golf course. The center of the park is dominated by a soccer field. But, it is also good for a game of football or flying kites.

There are plenty of birds and squirrels, and even the occasional fox (only at night).

The City of Brighton has added several works of art, along the western end of the Carmichael Loop.

Nearby is the Brighton Outdoor Pool, a very popular destination during the summer.

The entrances to the park are at 1750 Skeel Street and1855 Southern Street.
