Belvoir Street Chapel (Hansom Hall) Mar 20, 2016
Also known as “Pork Pie Chapel”, this neoclassic building served as a Baptist Chapel for many decades. It was built in 1845 to accommodate new members of the growing Baptist community. The plenary hall is able to accommodate 1500 people, there are also some smaller classrooms in the building. Decline in church attendance forced the congregation to merge with the one of Charles Street Chapel in the 1940s. In 1947, the building was sold. It was for some time an adult education centre and now used as a theatre. Hansom Hall is the official name today.
