Belvedere Hotel Wengen Description
Hotel Belvedere is a traditional art nouveau-style chalet hotel overlooking the Alps, situated 500 metres from the car-free resort centre, from where a funicular train runs six kilometres to the Kleine Scheidegg ski lift. The 62 guestrooms are located on five floors and all have coloured walls, warm lighting and include cable television, direct-dial phones, safes and bathrooms with hair dryers. Let me start by qualifying my cost analysis. Of the two times I have stayed at the Belvedere the cost was included in a package, so I am not entirely sure of the cost rating.
This hotel is clean, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing. I've always come to Switzerland after a few days in Rome and Florence, so I eagerly anticipate the laid-back attitude of Wegen. And the Belvedere is the embodiment of laid-backness in lodging form. The rooms are spacious, the views gorgeous and the beds cloud-like. The restaurant serves great food and anything in the city is in walking distance. It's also a great starting point for hiking to the Eiger Mountain (as if any place is a bad starting point). By the way, they allow pets!
