Beltane festival Edinburgh Reviews
Great show of the end of winter with dances and light performances Dec 23, 2012
The festival of the end of winter is a great show in the city centre of Edinburgh. This is a revival of old Celtic traditions and you can visit the event every year in the end of April.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beltane)
You can meet similar tradition around Europe, e.g. in Slavic countries drowning of the goddess of the death Morana or in Germanic ones Walpurgi's night. This festival has been held every year since 1988 and it is a tradition of Neopaganism. The dancers perform different ritual shows with fire and they are dressed accordingly to this.
I've watched the amazing show twice already. It is good to get dressed properly, as the show is held in the late hours and it is sill freezing cold outside - well done to the dancers, who perform with just thin clothes on.
I recommend you to go and see this interesting show. There's a fee charged, but it is affordable. Have great stay, if you get a chance to see this show on the Calton Hill in the end of April.
