Bellinona is the capital of the Ticino canton in Switzerland. The city is most famous for its three castles, which are now part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites( since 2000) :Montebello, Sasso Corbaro and Castelgrande.
The town is located very close to the Ticino river, in the Ticino valley, which gave Bellinzona a strategic position during medieval times as it hold the keys to the passes of Nufenen, Gotthard and and San Bernadino.

bellinzona is quite close from locarno, when there is no traffic jam it just takes a short time to get there, and we were lucky with the traffic!bellinzona was also well signed, well it got a bit confusing to find a parkingcentre but there were plenty of free side street spaces left so no problems!…
