Bellavista Hostel Santiago Reviews
It's loud and noisy but also very boutique and plush! Dec 05, 2015
This hostel is smack dub in the heart of the Providencia district and very close to the Bellavista Patio - the by-words for "touristy" and "pub crawl". When in a sprawling metropolis such as Santiago, you can't go wrong.
From everything: the location, the road, the building, this hostel screams cosy and exotic and new age. Its extremely colourful interiors, mezzanine style of construction, abandoned staircases, corridors and artwork, and the slanting cycle used as a décor... the whole experience makes you feel like it's your nan's house converted into a hostel. It's lazy, relaxed and welcoming at the same time.
But don't be fooled - it can also be modern enough. the WiFi is very strong in both the rooms and the main area. We weren't there for the breakfast (we left by 6a) so I can't comment on that.
The staff is very helpful although they hire tourists for the front desk (workstay) so a lot of them don't know Spanish or the city enough to advise their clients.
Oh, and there was only 1 bathroom on the main floor which is annoying. It's across a tacky nightclub so it's noisy till 4am (Chileans like to party late, if not party hard). Also the walls are quite thin so we could hear a couple getting it on like dogs from our room :-(
All in all though, I'd recommend this hostel for the safety and location. Just bring earplugs!
