Belem Fishing Port Oct 09, 2013
Belem Fishing Port is a little dirty square of the prime dock property filled with old school wooden boats. I was warned not to go there by myself because it is dangerous, but as usual, I ignored it and luckily came out fine. This port is FILTHY! Of course most of the ports are, but this one is very small, in the center of the town, and it looks like it does not have anyone to clean behind everyday activities. Flocks of vulture birds stretch decaying fish and pieces of carcasses, piles of things are everywhere and boats are floating in the garbage instead of water.

Boats are very picturesque, raw and full of people living and working on them. Most of the fish is sold right there on the dock, and sometimes cut in the front of you (in the very dirty environment). The most dangerous area is under the fort walls where most of the boat hand guys are hanging around, giving you non friendly looks and there are no caps coming in that area…
