yes it was a really weird experience. The newly built 'old' centre of Beirut just looks so surreal, and there are shells of destroyed buildings everywhere.
I hope to translate my original Beirut blog into English over the weekend so you can read the thoughts I had at the time. It was one of the most eye-opening and heartwrenching experiences I ever had while travelling.
