Shanghai, China -› Lhasa, China -› …
The trip started in Shanghai with some great bargains. Then we took the plane to Tibet to dive into another world. While our cap driver left us at Ganden monastery we were lucky enough to be able to join a pilgrim group back to Lhasa. Taking the new train from Lhasa to Beijing for 48 hours the last part of the trip began. Living in a real hutong I could get around the city and just with a piece of paper (and a bit of luck) to the great wall.

This trip was meant to de-stress me and at the same time catch up with my friends who are in Beijing but it was more than what I expected..I have so many pleasant things to account for: (1)great weather - no rain and wasn't too HOT as well (2)ease of transport - the subway is very easy and taking a cab for short distances is worth the comfort (3)new friends I made (4)felt safe late at night or early morning (5)language barrier wasn't as troublesome as expected

Beijing is an amazing city. I'm told it's a bit cleaner and prettier for the Oympics, but this city is huge, spotless, full of flowers and trees, and completely modern (except for the narrow hutong neighborhoods). Yes, the smog is awful. Worse than Pomona, CA in the late 80's. My photos of al…

I think the city must have changed very dramatically for the Olympic games as getting around Bejing for a foreign is very easy. I spent there about 9 days and I saw a lot - beginning with The Forbidden City, The Temple of Heaven, through Tian An Men square, various parks, O…

So,
