Thursday August 11th, 2005Beijing, China10:30 amHow weird it is - to actually be in The Forbidden City. I remember reading back in 6th grade about the mass killing of college students here in 70's. And now, here I am. Walking in the picture of the man infront of the tank. Only 30 years later. How crazy this all is. Large chinese buildings, all with different names corresponding to what dynasty they were from. They are large, monstorous buildings. I feel like I'm in Mulan. In Europe, I could sem...

Templo

I made a business trip to China to work for 3 days and ended up staying for 11. The place was simply fabulous. We enjoyed amazing food, great sites and unbelievable shopping. Here are just a few of the shots, more are available on my photo site http://gallery.mac.com/robmccall#gallery

History, Food, Chinese culture, as the capital of China, Beijing is the best choice for who want to experience the country without paying further time and money.
Though, for me, its a hub city when travelling in China, and a place to meet friends.
So, i gonna introduce some less visited places, that seems to be interesting for people get bored with major sites like me.

Photos from five weeks in China and Tibet last summer. This was my second venture with Eastern Michigan University's CHT programs. We began in Shanghai then travelled on to Nanjing, Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu then flew to Lhasa, Tibet. Night trains, Sultana taxis, and one illegal/broken down bus later, I am please to share with you China and Tibet.

I was privileged enough to visit Beijing this past January on my company's dime. Beijing is a very busy and bustling city. I mostly enjoyed the local cuisine. Hey...what do you call Chinese food when you're already in China?

On the penultimate day of the course I managed to oversleep and miss the first class! Given how many ridiculously late nights I’d been having this was actually the first time I’d not made it to lessons on time.
We were told at the start of the course that missing classes without a good explanation would not be tolerated, so I was pleasantly surprise when my absence was ignored. Clearly my star pupil status had worked in my favour!
The rest of the day passed by in a complete ...

After a quick breakfast at the Hotel Bayangol, we got our transfer to the station get the final leg of our Trans Siberian/Mongolian adventure.
Once on the train, first impressions were an improvement on the last train, so hopes were higher for a more comfortable journey....Sadly this was short-lived...
The carriage reached 40°C in the sweltering Gobi desert heat, and the worst part was that we were told to shut the windows to stop the cabin from filling with the desert dust, leaving us who...
