This is the last half day in China capital. We woke up and went to the Ritan Park, where there is the Ritan altar, something like altar of the sun... or similar... but the altar itself was rather empty and not really interesting. More fun was the park around the altar, because there were so many pe…

Well, it happened. Someone asked me for directions for the first time tonight. And (surprise!) I actually could help the guy out. Ah. Sanlitun has now become home. I missed my apartment when I was in Manilla last week. Another sign that this has become home to me. As I'm getting used to life here, …

At least this flight wasn't delayed! Flying another almost 6000 miles over the Pacific and I arrived back in San Francisco airport about 12 hours later. Time to unpack and look through my photos and update my blog. This trip took me almost 2000 km or 1200 miles by train and bus, and 2 domestic fli…

My first trip to China to study mandarin for a year (the PLAN) and ended up only 6 months. However, China was a great strong country, a lot of friendly and aggressive people there although it sees hard for me to hang out with the locals. They even hardly speak English, I guess it's a good thing for me to practice the language. Anyway, it was one of a hell trip I have in my life, I could make friends with the expat at least. Helping a friend browsing the city with only 0,5% mandarin I cud speak.

TIAN’ANMEN SQUARE
The very center of the People’s Republic of China and the world’s largest public square (the size of 90 football fields); Tian'anmen still reverberates with the ghosts of recent history.

I know that many have walked the Great Wall of China and the experience has stimulated various insightful chronicles of the trek. As well, I know that the actions of the hawkers have often been described as a negative influence. I don't know if my hike was any different from most except that f…

So lindsey and I went on a mini-excursion during the清明節long weekend, when everyone else went to xi'an. we wanted to go to the Beijing Art Museum, but we got off two wrong stops, yes, twice. Twice the ticket people let us back in. It was funny. And of course, when lindsey was talking, everyone…

Finally, we were in the last day of our trip in Beijing. This time, we did not use any guided tours. Besides, it did not make any use for us. We felt so happy because we could arrange our trip alone and as we liked. After having the breakfast, we went out from the hotel by walking. Our hotel was ve…
