Sample Bedouin hospitality away from the crowds Apr 28, 2007
If you are going to Wadi Rum, you should do an overnight tour, spending at least one night in one of the many desert camps within the national park. And if you are doing an overnight tour, you should really do one with a locally owned tour operator. And if you are choosing a locally owned tour operator, then Bedouin Roads is definitely one of the better options!
Bedouin Roads offer a wide variety of trips rangin from single day trips to full week treks, in groups from 2 to 10 people. Jeep trips, walks, climbs, camel rides, all can be added to the itinerary. They work with independent local guides, all of whom speak adequate English and have thorough knowledge of the area. The company has its own campground in the park, which offer decent matrasses, has a communal tent and a separate tent for sleeping (though sleeping under the stars is highly recommended), and the campsite is equipped with a squat toilet and even a (solar heated) shower.
