Cosy nature campground by the ocean Oct 17, 2017
I spent a night camping by the ocean at Bear Gully Campground near Walkerville, west of Wilson's Promontory in Victoria, Australia. You have to book and pay for your site online here http://www.parkstay.vic.gov.au/cape-liptrap-coastal-park-bear-gully-campground The sites are unpowered and you need to bring your own water. Bear Gully isn't too far from other towns.

I thought the cost was maybe a little higher than usual to camp, but the sites were nice and the wildlife is lovely. We heard and saw many birds singing away, while wombats and wallabies walked around at night.

The shore is reefy, so not quite conducive to swimming, but we did try some fishing for a little while. Sadly we caught nothing but seaweed.

We observed the parks officer drive through in the morning and say hello. The are a few fireplaces, but not one per site and you can only have fires in those places. You have to bring your own wood, which we had. There are drop toilets with paper supplied.

There is phone coverage there. The sites are quite well protected from the ocean winds, but it was quite calm during our stay anyway.
