Amazing Camping Right In Town Jun 24, 2010
I've been going to Kelowna 2-3 times a year for the last decade. We always try to hit the wineries each year and stock up for the winter. Usually we camp through the okanagan but have never camped in Kelowna because we want to be in town.
This year my wife found a great campground right on the water on the west side of Kelowna - just before West Bank and close to Mission Hill winery.
The campsites are very privately tree'd and large. There are lots of green spaces for picnics and sports and a nice beach.
One problem we had with this site was horrible signage. Actually the worst signs ever. We went to the beach and there is a sign saying "No Dogs On Beach". We walked around and seen no one was at the beach since it was late evening and decided to let out dog go for a dip. On our walk home we tried walking the shore and sure enough there was a dog beach a little further down the shore. No sign saying "No Dogs On Beach - Dog Beach 500m That Way" or anything similar.
Each loop has a sign that states campsites # to #. Unfortunately our campsite was in the only loop that didn't have a sign, why it didn't have one didn't make sense but it didn't.
One suggestion is to take your own fire wood as it is $7 a bundle and the bundles are small and burn fast. I estimate about 2 hours with a decent size fire. We had a fire going since dinner at 5pm till 2am. Cost us 5 bundles.
