If you visit Victoria BC, do take a walk though
Beacon Hill Park. It not a very big park but it does have a lot to offer. There's an area where you can see the native wild flowers, and there are well-manicured gardens where they change the flowers seasonally. It has a well stocked duck pond and a children's petting farm--complete with goats, hens, roosters, rabbits, sheep, donkeys-- a small water park and a play area for young children. In the summer months they play cricket on a Sunday afternoon. There are many very pleasant walks; if you are up to it, one can walk through the park into Cook Village--a quaint residential area --stop and have coffee at one of the many coffee shops, browse a few of the shops, then walk from there to Dallas Rd and walk high on the bluff along the ocean. Walking back into downtown Victoria via Fisherman's Warf in James Bay, one can stop by the small floating home community and feed the 3 resident seals. This is about a 7 kilometre walk along the perimeter of Cook Village and James Bay, but on a nice day it's a worthwhile trip.

Beacon Hill Park is gorgeous. It's busy, but big, so you'll never feel cramped. There are various paths and trails to follow, or you can leave those and wander on you won. I suggest following the path that overlooks the ocean, though, as the views are breathtaking. On your journey throgh the park you'll also see animals, the tallest totem pole in the world, and statue of Canadian hero, Terry Fox. It's free, so visit Beacon Hill Park and explore.
