Walk on the beach Dec 30, 2014
The main attraction of Druridge is undoubtedly its wide expanse of sandy beach, stretching for seven miles from the village of Cresswell to the south almost to Amble in the north. Fringed with dunes, it provides a fantastic location for winter walks and summer fun. The latter includes surfing as well as the traditional beach activities of ball games, kite-flying and of course building sandcastles. You need to be a bit hardy to venture into the chilly North Sea, but on a hot day many do so. But I have to say that I prefer Druridge in the winter, especially on a bright crisp day when the light can be wonderful for photography and the weather perfect for a bracing walk along the water’s edge. You probably won’t have it to yourself, but it will be anything but crowded.

The easiest way to get here by far is by car, via the A1068 (look for signs to Cresswell if heading to the less developed southern part of the beach, or stay on the main road to Hadston if you want the facilities of the country park).
