Beach Club Hotel Bohol
Beach Club Hotel Bohol Reviews
Family friendly hotel with excellent water activities Jul 09, 2009
This review is for my stay there back in 2006, I've just copied & pasted it here from another travel website.
I've been to resorts before but usually just for a day trip. I took my parents and my brother here for a mini-holiday, partly as a 25th wedding anniv present for my folks. Food was ok, my bro and I love pasta so we ordered it and got average food. My folks were surprisingly pleased with their fisherman's basket aka seafood basket, but I've seen better. I ate most of the green mango and bagoong in that basket instead. LOL What I've noticed about the toilets in the Philippines is that they're not "strong" or "powerful" enough to flush down tissue paper. My bro encountered a nasty incident with the toilet when he flushed the tissues down, it basically clogged up the toilet. We had to run to our parents' bedrooms and use their toilet instead. LOL We stayed in the new area of the resort. The other person who reviewed this place is correct, the service from the reception desk was OK. The service from the restaurant was good though and the masseurs were friendly. I loved the massage by the beach, very calming. I wish I had time to kayak etc. We also checked out Pamilacan Island and joined the dolphin/whale watching tour. Spent 3 hours in the middle of the ocean, quite scary when you think about it. Oh well. It was part of the adventure. Met some lovely people there, I wouldn't mind going back there again. ^_^ Liked — The clear waters, the white sand, the people I met, the resort was awesome. Disliked — The damn toilets LOL |

Disappointing Tourist Trap Mar 08, 2009
Though Bohol Beach Resort has one of the nicest stretches of beach in Bohol, I found as a whole the whole experience to be rather disappointing. Considering the excellent food normally found in Bohol, the resort's restaurants left much to be imagined. The resort regularly hosts large groups like the one I was with which made me think they would be much more capable. Clearly, I was wrong.
The room I stayed in was located in the centre of the resort, by one of the three pools. Clearly, these were the oldest rooms in the hotel as they were well worn and quite run down. I believe we paid more to have poolside rooms but I'd stick to the Standard room if I were to go again. Those rooms are newer but smaller. The rooms had tons of mosquitos and creepy crawlies that never slept. The biggest disappointment was the service. The only truly helpful staff were in the business centre. I tried to explain to the bartender (there's a small pool bar in the centre of the resort) that they shouldn't leave the phone ringer on through the night because all of the guests near the pool can year it through the night. I got nowhere. Also, because the resort does host large groups for team building etc., beware of the noise. They allow these groups to use whatever equipment they want, even hosting large concerts on the beach well in to the night when all the guests can hear. Overall, not a great place to stay. It's too large and really run down. It's too bad that it has one of the best beaches in Bohol. |
