Each summer Leuven has plenty shows and activities in open air. The most important ones to me are the "BeLEUVENissen (a word-play with the Flemish words "Leuven" and "Belevenissen", which means "experience").
Each friday of July there are several free concerts on the main squares in the city. No big international names come to perform here, but non the less the event brings a great atmosphere and is real fun.
Every week has it's own theme. These are the same almost every year and are: Folk, Jazz, Special (mainly a get together of some popular Belgian artists), and Tropical.
This year the agenda is found on the following website, but only in Flemish: http://www.leuven.be/showpage.asp?iPageID=174 or www.beleuvenissen.be
You can see details of all the groups that perform, and you can listen to a bit of their music. The Touristic service of Leuven will be happy to give any more specific information: firstname.lastname@example.org
