Be ready for Harlem Reviews

Aug 02, 2007
I went to Harlem recently and decided to walk around on some of its most bustling steets by day. I decided to go for some good soul food and to get a chance to see the former homebase of a man who I believe was one of the most intelligent men who ever lived, Malcolm X. Unfortunately for this occasion, I was white and so were my friends. I don't know what I should have expected, and walking down by the Apollo did bring all kinds of incredible sights and sounds, but I had to deal with some serious heckling, and at one point I was threateningly called a "hilly billy cracker mother fucker" over a microphone just for walking while a bunch of militant rastafarians stood close by scowling. Needless to say I DID find the soul food and it WAS the best meal I had in NYC, but I got right on the damn subway right afterward.
