average hotel across the street from the US Embassy Aug 18, 2014
The hotel was fine, but there was free Wi-Fi only in the rooms. To get online from the lobby would cost even guests (I think the girl told me) 100-200 PhP/hour. The staff was nice and the rooms were clean. The windows had a dark tint on them so the view wasn't great, but there wasn't much to see of Manila Bay anyway. The US Embassy is right across the street, so it's a great location for anyone who is in town for business there. Rizal Park is within walking distance and Mall of Asia is a taxi ride away, but the taxi drivers almost always try to overcharge foreigners and the hotel offers no assistance to help guests find a metered "ordinary" taxi. A buffet breakfast is included with the price of the room. It's nothing special and includes no cook-to-order dishes, but it's good enough to start the day on a full stomach. The items I remember included cereal, bread/toast, jam, cheese slices, lettuce,, small tomato slices, cucumber slices, quartered hard-boiled eggs, papaya slices, watermelon (that wasn't any good), and a few hot dishes that I don't eat such as under-cooked bacon, sausage, and some other stuff that included oil.
