Bayview Eden Melbourne Reviews
Nice hotel near to city with easy access to trams! May 10, 2015
Bayview Eden - Melbourne is a nice multi storey hotel located about 3kms to the city center and the popular Federation square.
The hotel is located about 20kms from the Melbourne International airport and it takes about 35mins by taxi for a cost of about A$65.
I stayed here for few nights during the world cup cricket 2015 finals, so the rates were almost over the normal or even almost doubled. But no regrets, for the location and easy access to public transportation, and with walking distance there are convenience stores, Subway, restaurants and stores.
The hotel itself has a cafe (Niche Cafe) and bar (Niche Bar) on the ground floor, rooftop spa/health club, pool, travel desk and business center. The cafe also offers room service even after hours.
The hotel has a huge lobby with colonial style interior with plenty of sofa seats for the guests. The staff were very friendly, attentive and check-in was quick even when I had to check-in early in the morning before 10am. No hesitations for early check-in or changing the room for better view after check-in.
The room was very spacious with huge floor to ceiling glass windows with nice curtains but looked little dated especially the aged and pale colored carpet. However, it wasn't smelly or unclean, but had few wrinkles here and there!
The beds were not bad and had clean and bright white sheets with firm pillows. There was enough lighting in the room, including bed side lights and reading lights.
The bathroom was pretty good and spacious as well which includes a bath tub, rarely can be found in hotels for this cost in big cities! The shower had a good water pressure for both hot and cold water. They provided nice quality toiletries and towels which were replenished on daily house keeping service.
The room had all basic amenities and in addition it had iron, iron stand, in-room iron safe, loaded mini bar and mini fridge.
Complimentary wi-fi was available in the hotel lobby and I remember there is a charge for in-room wi-fi access, though I was able to connect the lobby's wi-fi signal on and off.
Moving around from the hotel is pretty simple and there is a tram station and bus stop just a block away. I only used trams to get in and around the city and it was very comfortable. Hotel also sells the rechargeable ticket cards for trams/buses/trains which is called "myki" card for a cost of A$14, which is good for unlimited 1 day travel within Melbourne.
I did not have any safety issues around the hotel area or in the hotel and I even walked in the streets past 11pm alone.
Overall, my experience with this hotel is extraordinary and I would definitely consider staying here again if I visit Melbourne again. This place is recommended for anyone who wants the explore the city just staying outside the busy city life!

Affordable, just outside of the main CBD Jul 19, 2011
Stayed in the Bayview Eden last year during my second visit to Melbourne.
Was greeted by a very welcoming receptionist, who quickly checked me into my room even though i was early because of my flight times.
The room was clean and large, though may need a modern refit in the next couple of years, the bathroom was clean but old would definitely benefit from a upgrade.
The location of the hotel is just opposite Albert Park which is nice to walk around in the evening, though it is about a 10 min tram ride from the main CBD and during peak times the trams can get very crowded and so you can be waiting a while until a free tram comes along.
Would still recommend this hotel, but if your looking to be closer to the CBD then choose a hotel closer to the center of the city.
