Homey live-in museum retreat Oct 26, 2016
Transport yourself into a bygone era in this charming colonial house, fitted like a homey live-in museum. A great place to stay if you're in Tangier for a few nights, and seeking a tranquil respite from your travels.
I stayed in a 4-bed female dorm with private bath and toilet, and paid 14 Euro/night without breakfast. Supportive mattress. No in-room locker available, and the shower walls could do with a bit more scrubbing.
Breakfast was 5 Euro, and consisted of tea or coffee, boiled egg, local and French bread, a selection of jams, soft cheese and grapes. Weather permitting, it's taken on the lovely rooftop terrace facing the sea, and where you can spy Spain across the Strait of Gibralta.
Although you can find cheaper accommodation, I found it worth while paying a bit more for a private shower and toilet, and extra for breakfast.
The staff there were super nice, and although I had paid for a bed in a 4-bed dorm, they placed the other guests in separate rooms, so we all had rooms to ourselves. Also a great place to practice your French before you head further south.
NB: Not a place if you have a severe cat allergy, as there are three resident felines.
