Bay Villas Resort Port Douglas

I'd booked a 2 room apartment here. I arrived after 6.00 pm and at reception there was an envelope taped to the door with directions to my room and a key. I'd read on another site how some folk found this unacceptable but a) I don't think it's unreasonable for office staff to go home and b) I'd managed to get from the UK to Australia, so the 30 metres to the apartment didn't seem too daunting.
The apartment was clean and spacious. Open plan living room and kitchen leading to a balcony that overlooked the pool.
One bedroom had a double bed and the other 2 singles and sheets are changed on Mondays. The bathroom had shower and bath and at the end of a corridor there was a sliding door that hid the washing machine and tumble drier.
There was also a fridge/freezer, bedside radio alarms, and a telephone supplied. Ceiling fans and air con are also installed.
It was about a 10 minute stroll to the main street for eats, drinks, shops etc and about 5 to Four Mile Beach
The pool was small, but sufficed, but as it was unheated and largely in shade it was a tad chilly.
All the apartments overlook the pool and which was shaded by trees. If anything, these provided a touch too much cover as the balcony was often in shade, as were the pool side sun loungers, so sunbathers would need to shift positions quite regularly.
The reception was open 8.30-6.00 and sold a range of domestic essentials as well as providing a booking service for excursions and bike hire. (Though a better selection of bikes is available round the corner).
I enjoyed my stay here and thought it good value for money. If in the area, I'd stay again.
