Bay Gardens Hotel Gros Islet

Reception was less than a warm welcome and I had to carry my own luggage up 2 flights of stairs.... not something I'd complain about if I was back packing or if it was a hostel, but supposedly this is at least a 3 1/2 * Hotel.

The room was dated, very basic and had ants everywhere in the bathroom... that and it’s the first 3* I’ve been to that doesn’t give you beach towels (lucky I brought my own). Oh and the cleaner didn't bother to clean our room the next day.... nice :-/

The pools very nice, but very small, there is a second pool, which is slightly larger and has a black mini waterfall pool next to it, however, it doesn't look like its been cleaned in a month and smells of urine.

The location is the best part, but its miles away from the beach, so no good if you want to just nip down there, its a 10/15 minute walk though the high street. However, it is close to the bars and restaurants, which when you stay here is a needs must as their service is not what I'd call 'up to scratch'.

The restaurant is under staffed, meaning you have to waiting 10 minutes for a seat, have to ask to be served as they forget you, then ask an hour later were your meal is, the wait a further 20 minutes for you meal, when it turns up its cold. You also have to even go and ask at the bar for your drinks as even if you are lucky enough to have a drink order taken, it will never turn up.

The food was less than average, looks worse than a meal from brewers fair or weatherspoons, which is fine if yr going to either one of those, but when you’re paying double the price and waited triple the time, its worth complaining about.

Overall I'm glad I only stayed 2 nights and I didn't have to pay for it.... otherwise I would have complained even more.

Oh and don't bother asking for a room with a view, or paying extra as there aren't any.
